DISTANCE HEALING EXPLAINED: A CLOSER LOOK AT HOW REMOTE HEALING WORKS

Remote Reiki sessions work. I know this from years of practice. But until recently, I couldn't explain how.

For years I wrestled with the quandary of knowing how to perform a remote healing session and that it works just as well as in-person, but unable to adequately explain the mechanism behind it. Now that I am preparing to offer mostly remote healing sessions, I feel it's vital that I can communicate to others not just that it works, but HOW it works.

At first I was happy with the nebulous concept of directing my intention (intention = focused energy) to the person receiving my care. In other words, I could point my awareness in the proper direction and aim the healing energy that way. Well-meaning, but not particularly satisfying as an explanation.

Then I realized that asking others to just believe what I tell them rather than providing a more understandable explanation wasn't okay with me. My entire holistic healing premise is based on science, not pure faith. Back to the drawing board I went, plummeting back into a pool of research, science articles, and doing a lot of contemplation.

I know how this sounds. 'Energy healing' and 'quantum' in the same sentence makes many people's eyes roll—including mine—often for good reason. There's a lot of alternative practices using quantum buzzwords. I get it. But hear me out.

A couple of days ago, I was in deep conversation with someone about this very subject. Rather than consciously thinking about how I was going to explain distance healing, I just allowed information to flow through me. Suddenly I realized I had stumbled upon an important concept, one I hadn't considered before. Now I am here writing this article to share it with you.

Key Takeaway: Explaining distance Reiki sessions so it makes sense to others has always been daunting, until now. I felt uneasy offering remote sessions unless I could adequately explain how they work.
For the sceptic: I completely understand your scepticism, reflected in how I felt compelled to figure this out before officially opening my virtual doors for remote sessions.

THE BASIC PREMISES
We are bioelectromagnetic beings. All life on Earth shares this trait. Everyone generates their own energy field—their biofield—as a unique invisible signature similar to a fingerprint. An energetic print? This field flows through us and outside us, providing an information network instantaneously communicating with our entire body simultaneously.

This part I already knew.

Communication can be done through charged ions, electromagnetically positive or negative charged particles, through our atmosphere. Radio communication happens via our ionosphere—the uppermost portion of Earth's atmosphere—and can transmit information all over the world. Telephone lines and fibre optic cables carry information via electrical signals from one place to another. Starting with the telegraph, then telephone, cable TV, and finally the internet.

But we also receive information through electromagnetic fields in the air—mobile signals, Wi-Fi, satellite broadcasting. Generally speaking, any information has the potential to be transmitted through charged particles, whether via physical cable or energy fields.

And suddenly, it clicked.

If all life emits its own electromagnetic energy fields, and the very air we breathe has the capacity to carry information from one place to another via electrically charged particles, then in theory, we can connect with each other through the actual air. Right?

My conversational explanation outlined the above premise. I didn't realize what I was saying until much later. Again, the idea didn't seem to come from me personally, it came through me. A not-always-comfortable occurrence that happens to me often.

Key Takeaway: Information can be shared via energy fields, which we already use daily, and we all have our own energy field, so connecting with others distantly makes sense.
For the sceptic: This was the most challenging aspect of my theory to research. I had to approach my search in multiple angles to find the pieces needed to create the whole puzzle.

THE QUANTUM BRIDGE

Recently, new research has been published announcing the successful instantaneous transmission of information over distance using quantum entanglement. First with two entangled particles, then using three. [REFERENCES BELOW] Although this is a scientific breakthrough, it only proves to me what I already knew: we have the ability to interact with each other via quantum mechanics.

Here I find myself in the long, tangled weeds of quantum physics. I've studied this for decades, and already have a foundational understanding of its basic concepts. But how to explain it in a way that makes sense to others? (This very basic understanding of some key quantum mechanics concepts does not make me smarter or better than anyone else, just much nerdier.)

So, I'm going to try to explain… ready?

Let's say two particles (or things or electrons—whatever works in your head) get together and hang out for a while. They might have a drink or two, discussing how to change the world. After a while, they realize both are in full agreement. Now they are vibrating at the same frequency. On the same wavelength. In quantum terms, they're entangled—their states are linked regardless of distance.

Now one of the particles has to move to the other side of the world, perhaps to a different branch of the same company. The particle left behind encounters a new concept that radically alters its existing vibration. Its 'belief' has shifted. At the exact same time, the relocated particle across the world experiences the exact same change. No phone calls needed. No emails exchanged. It just happens instantaneously due to existing quantum entanglement. The two particles remain in the same vibration, on the same wavelength.

Key Takeaways: Quantum entanglement allows instantaneous sharing of information between entangled particles over any distance.
For the sceptic: Quantum physics isn't the easiest to understand, never mind explain. Even scientists that specialize in this can struggle to explain exactly how it works.

BRINGING IT ALL TOGETHER
So, first we revisited our natural energy fields. Then moved to communication through charged particles. Finally, we touched upon the quantum world. All three ideas create a potential communication system, an instantaneous transmission of information from one place to another.

This is how I understand distance healing works. As a Reiki practitioner, I connect with my client anywhere in the world. I know how to create a temporary version of quantum entanglement between us. Thus, I have created the path to perform a remote Reiki session, providing the same quality healing, balance, and calm instantaneously.

I'm not claiming I've proven this scientifically in a laboratory setting. I'm offering a framework—grounded in real physics—for understanding what practitioners and clients consistently experience. The bioelectromagnetic fields are established science. Atmospheric transmission of information is proven technology we use every day. Quantum entanglement is cutting-edge physics being demonstrated in laboratories right now.

Distance healing sits at the intersection of all three.

It's 5am here in southeast England. The darkness outside gently illuminated by the Super Full Hunter's Moon. Owls are calling to each other in the surrounding fields. A sliver of twilight grows along the horizon. And here, as dawn breaks over the English countryside, I've offered you a framework for understanding what distance healing might actually be: not magic, not faith—but real connection through the very fabric of reality itself.

Now, instead of sounding a bit 'out there,' distance or remote healing sounds pretty cool!
