This is the ultimate month for celestial events! As the harvest time begins, leaving high summer as a mere memory, our sky is the scene of several phenomena for those who have the opportunity and desire to behold its glory. Baby birds have fledged. Spring lambs grow into their sheep-ness. The verdant landscape starts to wilt around the edges as the fruits of nature's labour come into full ripeness. Our summer weather still reigns (though with no rain!), but change is in the air as our days grow noticeably shorter.
Let's get to the proverbial star of this month's show: the sky. On 29th July, a very rare planetary geometry lined up in our solar system. Jupiter, Neptune, Uranus, and Pluto formed a 'basket' shape. Combined with the position of our sun, moon, and Earth, as well as other celestial bodies, this creates a once-in-a-lifetime configuration.
What does this mean, how is it significant, and why should you care?
All the bodies in our solar system have synergistic effects on our home planet including influencing the solar wind, heliomagnetic field, gravitational changes, and electromagnetic shifts. Our neighbouring planets have an effect on everything here on Earth, just as our sun and moon do. Geomagnetic alterations. Atmospheric anomalies. The overall electromagnetic charge of our entire planet. These are but a few impacts the other planets have on all life, geology, and atmospherics here at home.
This rare formation brings potential sudden shifts, total transformations, and considerable changes in our lives - whether we want them or not. Knowing this offers you the opportunity to prepare and embrace these changes rather than trying to resist them. Perhaps there are decisions you've been delaying, plans not yet put in action, or things needing to be released. Now is the time to actively participate in these shifts, choosing the change rather than resisting them. Resistance requires extra energy while accepting keeps you in flow. Besides, these alterations will occur anyway!
The most notable heavenly events will happen 12th August. A six planet alignment - Jupiter, Mercury, Mars, Uranus, Saturn, and Neptune - greets the early morning horizon just before sunrise. Early evening offers a partial solar eclipse as our sun sets in the western sky. The Perseids meteor shower peaks at night and continues until the next morning. Due to the New Moon at that time, it will be easier to see than usual! Speaking of the moon, in the early morning hours of 28th August, a partial lunar eclipse graces our sky, creating a red-tinged 'blood moon' effect.
